As part of their scope of services, Mark P. Finlay Architects, AIA offers master planning, landscape design, interior architecture and sustainable design services.
MASTER PLANNING & LANDSCAPE DESIGN
Master planning is the first phase for many of the firm's projects. They recognize that familiarizing themselves with the landscape before determining the orientation of the built structures on the site is extremely important. This process allows the firm to be sensitive to the natural topography which for them is vital to the success of a project. This initial design includes all hardscape and is then enhanced by an appointed landscape architectural firm. Mark P. Finlay Architects, AIA continues to collaborate with the landscape architect throughout the length of the project.
INTERIOR ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
Mark P. Finlay Architects, AIA has an interior design department in house which provides interior architectural design as part of their services. This includes but is not limited to all trim, casework, mouldings, built-in cabinetry, hard surfacing, built-in antiques and lighting design. While the firm does not provide furniture or fabrics, they will assist in the selection of an interior designer and will interface with them throughout the project. The firm's ability to join forces with these professionals and establish a team-oriented work environment has allowed Mark Finlay Architects to form great working relationships with many interior design firms around the country.
SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
Mark P. Finlay Architects, AIA has been practicing sustainable design throughout their 25 years in business. From their knowledge and use of environmentally sensitive products and materials to collaboration with construction teams who practice green building, the firm has produced a great deal of energy efficient commercial and residential buildings.
With a LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) accredited professional in New Construction on staff, they are committed to helping clients make responsible and educated decisions about their design choices. In the beginning stages of the design process, the project team looks at the environmental factors of each site. By taking into consideration various elements such as wind patterns, shaded areas and natural light, and by selecting environmentally friendly materials, the firm is able to design buildings that fit in with their natural surroundings and minimize their impact on the environment.
Whether a project is new construction or a renovation, their buildings embrace the idea of responsible design which not only meets the client’s current needs, but will continue to meet the needs of future generations to come.
