March 12, 2010 - RedStick Golf Club in Vero Beach, Fla. celebrated its 10th anniversary of the founding of the club this past weekend, Friday, March 12th with cocktails dinner and dancing.
Club Members and spouses were in attendance along the professionals involved in the success of the project including the project architect Mark P. Finlay, AIA. Golf course architect, Rees Jones was unfortunately unable to attend the event. The night was completed by a spectacular fireworks display over the 18th green of the course. In 1999, Finlay was commissioned to design the 15,000-square-foot clubhouse at RedStick. Working in conjunction with Jones, the clubhouse was inspired by Addison Mizner’s Florida Architecture. Finlay’s design extended to a teaching facility located on the practice range. Since its grand opening 10 years ago, the 250-member club has received much recognition and has won several awards including Golf Magazine’s Top 45 Golf Courses Since 1959.
Finlay and Jones also paired up at The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek, in John’s Island, S.C. which was named Best New Private Golf Course in Golf Digest 2002 and Top 100 in both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine. Currently the architects are working together on The Patterson Club in Fairfield, Connecticut. Here Finlay designed a new 55,000-square-foot clubhouse which he integrated into the golf course between the 9th and 18th holes. Jones redesigned the existing golf course which was originally designed by his father Robert Trent Jones Sr. The grand opening for Patterson Club is scheduled to for this spring.
