Mark P. Finlay Architects, AIA Celebrates 25 Years in Business

July 1, 2009 - Mark P. Finlay Architects, AIA celebrates the firm's 25th year in business this month.

The firm first opened their doors on July 1, 1984 with two employees: Founder and President Mark P. Finlay and the current Vice President Robert DeVore. Their first office was in Fairfield, Conn. and they soon after moved to a larger office close by after winning the 1984 Fairfield Center Streetscape Award, a national completition for the re-design of the downtown area. The firm remained there until 2004 when they moved into the Rosewell Building, an office building in Southport Village which Finlay designed himself. Designed in the tradition of New England train stations, the new building won the 2004 Nicholas H. Fingelly Award for new construction.

Today, the firm has grown to 30 employees and specializes in high-end custom residences, trademark commercial buildings and golf clubhouse design. Recently, Mark P. Finlay Architects, AIA won the Connecticut Main Street Award for their design of a commercial building at 1020 Post Road in downown Darien, Conn. as well as Connecticut Cottages & Garden's Innovation in Design Award for a private residence and horse barn in Fairfield, Conn..
